20th September 2023
Yesterday, St. Vincent’s University Hospital (SVUH) and St. Michael’s Hospital (SMH) came together to celebrate a momentous occasion as 130 dedicated staff members were honoured for their unwavering commitment to healthcare excellence. The Long Service Awards, held on September 19th, are a testament to the remarkable milestone achievements of these exceptional individuals.
Gerry O’Brien, Group Director of Operations for St. Vincent’s Hospital Group, warmly welcomed attendees to this significant event, stating, “We come together to celebrate not just the passing of time, but the enduring dedication and unwavering commitment of our remarkable staff. The 97 SVUH and 22 SMH team members who have dedicated 20 years of their lives to our hospitals are the heart and soul of our institutions. To the six SVUH staff and one SMH staff with 30 years of service, and the three extraordinary SVUH staff members and one SMH member who have dedicated 40 years , we thank you. Your commitment to the cause of healthcare is truly remarkable.”
John Keane, Director of Human Resources at SVUH, also shared his thoughts, saying, “Our Long Service Awards highlight the extraordinary contribution of our staff, who stand by us through decades of change and growth. We are immensely grateful for your service, which is integral to our mission of delivering world-class patient care.”
Anne Coleman, CEO of St. Michael’s Hospital, said, “We are proud to serve our community with a commitment to excellence in healthcare. The Long Service Awards are a testament to the dedication of our remarkable staff, whose unwavering efforts are the cornerstone of St. Michael’s Hospital’s success.”
This momentous occasion was not just a celebration of years served but an opportunity for colleagues, both old and new, to come together and share their experiences. It is a privilege to have so many long-serving staff as a part of the SVUH and SMH teams, contributing significantly to excellence in patient care.
Over the years, St. Vincent’s Hospital Group has witnessed remarkable developments, and there are many more exciting ventures on the horizon, including the relocation of the National Maternity Hospital to ELM Park Campus and the construction of a new Surgical Ward Block. These achievements would not be possible without the unwavering commitment of our dedicated staff members.
As we move forward into the future, we acknowledge that our continued success as a world-class healthcare provider relies on the calibre of staff like those honoured yesterday. We express our heartfelt gratitude to each and every one of them for their dedication, service, and commitment to the St. Vincent’s University Hospital and St. Michael’s Hospital communities.
Congratulations to all the awardees on these significant milestones, and thank you for your invaluable contributions to the healthcare field. Here’s to many more years of excellence in patient care and service.
