Anaesthesia, Intensive Care and Pain Medicine
The Department of Anaesthesia, Intensive Care and Pain Medicine provides medical care for a wide range of surgical procedures in St. Vincent’s University Hospital.
There are twenty-nine consultant anaesthetists, one consultant in pain medicine and eight theatres including two recently opened dedicated daycare theatres. The department also provides and runs a simulation training centre for the hospital.
The Intensive Care Unit is a sixteen bedded unit with eight isolation cubicles. It is a tertiary referral university-affiliated centre providing critical care services for a wide variety of specialties including the Department of Pain Medicine and Pre-Operative Assessment Clinic.
