Viral Hepatitis
Viral hepatitis refers to infections caused by viruses that primarily affect the liver, leading to inflammation and potential damage. The most common types are Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C. At SVUH, the Hepatitis Clinic operates in collaboration with the Hepatology (Liver) Service to provide expert care and long-term management.
General recommendations and prevention
- Regular screening for individuals at risk
- Early diagnosis and treatment to protect liver health
- Increased awareness and preventive measures to reduce transmission
- Hepatitis B vaccination, which also prevents Hepatitis D infection
- Practicing safer sex and avoiding needle sharing to lower risk
