General Infectious Diseases clinics

At SVUH, we run four specialist Infectious Diseases clinics each week. Our expert team provides care for individuals with a wide range of bacterial, viral, fungal and parasitic infections.

We assess and treat infections including:

  • Skin, bone, and joint infections
  • Heart (endocarditis), gastrointestinal, and renal tract infections
  • Central nervous system infections
  • Fevers of unknown origin
  • Travel-related infections

We also support individuals who are immunocompromised, providing infection prevention advice and ongoing monitoring as part of their care.

Referrals: GPs should submit referrals electronically via Healthlink.

Inpatient Infectious Disease care

Our Inpatient Infectious Diseases Service provides care for people with serious or complex infections that require hospital admission.

We offer:

  • Specialist medical care for a broad range of infectious diseases
  • Advanced diagnostics to accurately identify infections and assess severity
  • Collaborative treatment planning with other specialties (e.g., cardiology, respiratory, hepatology)

Our goal is to provide timely, effective and evidence-based interventions that improve outcomes, minimise risk and support patients through recovery.
