SVUH Patient Notice – Met Éireann Red Weather Warning – Storm Éowyn

Important information for patients:

Met Éireann has issued a Red Weather Warning for all counties tomorrow, Friday 24th January, due to Storm Éowyn. In response to the anticipated severe weather, St. Vincent’s University Hospital (SVUH) will be operating under the highest level of the Red Weather Warning. The HSE Adverse Weather Warning Policy has been activated for all counties for the times specified by Met Éireann. Please refer to the Met Éireann website for the most up-to-date weather timelines and warnings.

Key updates for patients:

• All non-emergency services will be closed on Friday, 24th January.
• Elective procedures and outpatient department clinics are cancelled. These appointments will be rescheduled as soon as possible.
• Dialysis and chemotherapy services will continue for critical patients, with late evening sessions planned for Friday and Saturday to accommodate the most urgent cases. We are prioritising critical emergency services during this storm and doing everything possible to ensure the safety and well-being of both our patients and staff.

Communication with patients: All patients whose appointments have been cancelled will receive a text message in line with HSE guidelines. Please keep an eye on your phone for this notification.

Emergency care: If you require urgent emergency care, please attend your local Emergency Department. Your safety is our priority, so we urge you to take all necessary precautions when travelling to ensure your safety during the storm.
