St. Vincent’s University Hospital attains Investors in Diversity Bronze Accreditation for commitment to progress
1st May 2024
St. Vincent’s University Hospital (SVUH) proudly announces its attainment of Investors in Diversity Bronze accreditation from the Irish Centre for Diversity (ICFD), marking a significant advancement in its commitment to progress with Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI). Recognised as Ireland’s premier EDI accreditation mark, this achievement reflects SVUH’s dedication to fostering an inclusive workplace culture.
“We are delighted to have achieved Investors in Diversity Bronze accreditation” said John Keane, Director of Human Resources at SVUH. “Our commitment to caring for our people and helping them thrive is at the heart of our organisation. Developing a truly diverse workforce, where we celebrate different backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives, is fundamental to our success and the care we provide to our patients. This recognition underscores our ongoing efforts to promote equality, diversity, and inclusion within our hospital community.”
SVUH’s pursuit of EDI excellence stemmed from the St. Vincent’s Healthcare Group Staff Culture Survey 2023, prompting engagement with the Irish Centre for Diversity to implement its accreditation framework of supports across three tiers – Bronze, Silver and Gold. SVUH’s application culminated in the attainment of the Bronze accolade, symbolising its unwavering commitment to an inclusive and equitable workplace.
“Investors in Diversity Bronze accreditation marks a significant milestone for SVUH,” remarked Caroline Cummins, managing director at Irish Centre for Diversity. “We congratulate them on this achievement and eagerly anticipate supporting them as they advance on their journey toward Investors in Diversity Silver and Gold accreditation.”
SVUH’s dedication to EDI extends beyond accreditation, evident in its policies and practices. The hospital has demonstrated good practice in embedding policies and processes, alongside providing comprehensive training for staff and leaders.
“We are committed to continuous improvement in our EDI initiatives,” said John Keane. “While we celebrate this achievement, we remain focused on addressing areas for development identified in the feedback report.”
