Celebrating Wellness: SVUH’s Annual Health Fair Shines Light on Holistic Health
13th March 2024
Today, amidst the bustling halls of St. Vincent’s University Hospital (SVUH) – one of the world’s leading academic teaching hospitals providing front line, acute, chronic, and emergency care across over 50 different medical specialties – in the country’s only integrated multi-hospital campus, the eagerly anticipated SVUH Annual Health Fair illuminated the 1st Floor Atrium, radiating health and vitality throughout the premises.
Under the theme “Healthy Living for a Healthy Life,” the event echoed SVUH’s commitment to holistic health, addressing various aspects of well-being, from sexual health promotion to financial wellness. The comprehensive approach underscored SVUH’s dedication to providing holistic care to its community.
Featuring 27 stalls manned by internal hospital departments and external health organisations, attendees immersed themselves in interactive exhibits, engaging discussions, and insightful demonstrations. Participants included esteemed organisations such as the Irish Kidney Foundation, the Asthma Society, the Alzheimer’s Society, and An Garda Síochána, offering expertise and support to all attendees.
Dr. Ailsa Lyons, Head of Preventive Medicine and Health Promotion at SVUH, expressed gratitude to all participants and attendees, highlighting the event’s resounding success. “We deeply appreciate the overwhelming support shown. The steady flow of people from the opening to the closing underscores the event’s growing popularity each year. A heartfelt shout-out to all our Preventative Medicine Team and event contributors. It underscores the importance of holistic health and wellbeing here at SVUH.”
The feedback from attendees was overwhelmingly positive, reflecting the profound impact of the Health Fair in fostering a culture of well-being within the SVUH community. The excitement of the raffle further underscored SVUH’s commitment to making wellness rewarding and enjoyable for all.
The Health Fair served as a guiding light of inclusivity and accessibility—a non-commercial event, free and open to everyone, embodying SVUH’s ethos of care and compassion. As the day concluded, anticipation for next year’s event already filled the air, promising another successful celebration of wellness.
