St. Vincent’s University Hospital Health Fair Returns: Promoting Healthy Living for a Healthy Life
21st February 2024
The Department of Preventive Medicine and Health Promotion at St. Vincent’s University Hospital (SVUH) proudly announces the return of the annual Health Fair on Wednesday, March 13th, 2024. The event will take place from 10:00am to 2:00pm on the 1st Floor Atrium of SVUH, Elm Park, Dublin 4.
Now in its seventh year, the SVUH Health Fair is a cornerstone event aimed at fostering health awareness and providing access to a wealth of health, wellbeing, and related services available to staff, patients, and the community. With 28 manned information stalls representing both internal hospital departments and external health organisations, attendees will have the opportunity to engage with professionals and gain valuable insights into various aspects of wellness.
The theme of this year’s Health Fair, “Healthy Living for a Healthy Life,” aligns with the aspirations of Healthy Ireland, striving to create a nation where everyone can achieve optimal physical and mental health and wellbeing.
Dr. Ailsa Lyons, Head of Preventive Medicine and Health Promotion at St. Vincent’s University Hospital, expresses enthusiasm for the event, saying, “We are delighted to be running another Health Fair for our patients, staff, visitors, and those from our local community. Preparations underway are sure to make this another successful event where there will be a broad range of health topics addressed including Bone Health, Diet, Liver health, Alzheimers and Dementia, Road Safety, Finance and budgeting, self-management supports among many more.”
The Health Fair aims to disseminate knowledge through informative visual displays, interactive exhibits, and demonstrations. Attendees can also participate in a raffle, with prizes available for those who complete and return an evaluation form.
Last year’s event, after a hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, received overwhelmingly positive feedback from attendees, with 99.5% reporting enjoyment and 97.5% rating it as excellent or good.
Dr. Lyons emphasises the importance of preventative health measures and health promotion, stating, “Preventative health measures and health promotion are key to supporting and enabling individuals to make healthier choices, maintain and improve their health, and enjoy physical and mental health and wellbeing to their full potential.”
The Health Fair is a non-commercial event, and attendance is free and open to everyone.
